Description
Guang Chen Pi, also known as Xinhui Chenpi, is the dried mature peel of the fruit of Citrus reticulata Blanco and its cultivated varieties, belonging to the Rutaceae family.
Guang Chen Pi is a valuable local specialty with both medicinal and food applications. It is regarded as the first of the “Three Treasures of Guangdong”, one of the first protected authentic medicinal materials in Guangdong Province (“Yue Ba Wei”), and one of the “Six Famous Aged Medicinal Materials” in traditional Chinese medicine. Chenpi is considered more valuable as it ages, with traditional sayings such as “thousand-year ginseng, hundred-year Chenpi” and “one liang of Chenpi equals one liang of gold; hundred-year Chenpi surpasses gold”. It has a bitter and pungent taste with a warm nature. It is traditionally used for regulating qi, strengthening the spleen, drying dampness and resolving phlegm.
