Description
Bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides Sieb. et Zucc.) is a plant belonging to the Poaceae family and Phyllostachys genus. It is widely distributed throughout the Yellow River Basin and regions southward, with wild bamboo populations found from the Wuyi Mountains westward through the Nanling Mountains to various southwestern provinces and regions of China. Bamboo juice, also known as bamboo sap, refers to the liquid extracted from bamboo stems, leaves, or shoots. Fresh bamboo juice is clear and transparent, with a delicate bamboo fragrance and a refreshing taste.
According to Shennong’s Classic of Materia Medica, bamboo juice is regarded as a valuable traditional ingredient for phlegm-related conditions. Compendium of Materia Medica records that bamboo juice has a sweet taste and slightly cooling nature, and is traditionally used for soothing, heat-clearing, fluid replenishing, cough relief, diuretic support, and alcohol metabolism support. Recent studies on bamboo juice in Japan suggest that it may contribute to cellular vitality and overall wellness benefits.
