• 紫苏入药始载于明代医圣李时珍《本草纲目》，在我国种植应用约有近2000年历史，主要用于药用、香料、食用等方面。

• 现代研究表明，紫苏中含有丰富的生物活性成分，具有类SOD活性，抗氧化，抑制透明质酸酶活性，促进胶原蛋白合成，类雌激素活性，抑制脂肪酶活性，抑制组胺分离，抗炎，抗过敏、抑菌防腐等功效。
